John Rohman Elected to CNC Board

CAMDEN, Maine--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The board of directors of Camden National Corporation has announced that John M. Rohman has been elected to serve as a member of the board of directors, effective September 2, 2010. Rohman has served on the board of directors of Camden National Bank, a subsidiary of the Company, since 2007 and will remain a member of that board. He replaces Ward I. Graffam who has retired from the board after reaching the mandatory retirement age for directors.

Commenting on the announcement, Rohman said, “Camden National Bank is among the best mid-tier banks in the country, and it has been my pleasure to serve on its board. I look forward to expanding my contribution by representing other shareholders on the Board of Camden National Corporation.”

Rohman is chairman of the board of WBRC Architects-Engineers in Bangor after serving as its president and chief executive officer from 1990 to 2010. He received a BS in civil engineering from the University of Maine at Orono in 1968, and a BS in business administration from Husson College in 1977. After two years in the military with the 1st Air Cav Division in Vietnam, he went to work as project engineer for Eaton W. Tarbell and Associates, an architectural firm in Bangor with a primary focus on commercial buildings. In 1973, he joined what is now WBRC Architects-Engineers.

For many years, Rohman has had a strong interest and involvement in the arts and education, having served as chair of the board of directors of the Maine Crafts Association, on the board of directors of the Bangor Symphony Orchestra, and on the of University of Maine Museum of art advisory committee. Rohman is a trustee of Husson University, and is a former chair of the University of Maine alumni association board of directors. He is now active as the chairman of the Maine Arts Commission as appointed by Governor John Baldacci. In 2004, Rohman was also elected to serve on the board of the Maine Chamber of Commerce.

After serving as president of the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce, Rohman entered the political arena and started his first City Council term in 1997 and served as Mayor of the city of Bangor in 2001. The selection of Bangor as the three-year site of the National Folk Festival was a very active item for both Rohman and his wife Lyndy, and that continues for the American Folk Festival. Rohman served as chairman of the Festival in its first two years. After the success of the Blaine House Conference on Maine’s Creative Economy, Governor Baldacci established the Creative Economy Council and appointed Rohman as the chair.
